Cian-Ti Wang – Fake Restaurant

The Fake Restaurant is a participatory performance and food project taking the form of a fictional restaurant. Rather than simply attending a meal, guests become part of the work by sharing a table, eating together and engaging with the space and with one another. The meal becomes a setting for conversation, exchange and shared experience.

Cian-Ti Wang is a visual artist based in Antwerp whose practice focuses on food, migration, ritual and culture. For this project, she brings together food she has cooked and shared across Taipei, Berlin, Antwerp, Brussels and Amsterdam. Each dish carries memories of a place, a person and a moment, bringing together Taiwanese food, ingredients and influences encountered along the way.

Through the performance, food becomes a way of carrying memories and crossing geographical, cultural and social boundaries. The work reflects on what it means to live in a foreign country, and how food can create a sense of home, comfort and connection.

The Menu

The meal includes two appetizers, a main course and a dessert. The menu is entirely vegetarian, bringing together Taiwanese food, ingredients and influences gathered through Cian-Ti’s experiences across different places.
