Workshop series / What Sounds Like Paint

In this series of four workshops, Joseph explores together with participants how ‘taste’ shifts across the senses: how the love for our favourite songs can spill over onto the canvas. Participants will not only learn painting techniques, but also encounter perspectives and references that are less often addressed within mainstream art education.

Joseph Thabang Palframan (b. 1997, Windhoek) lives and works as a multidisciplinary artist in Belgium. His practice combines painting with socially engaged, collaborative projects, in which he explores how marginalised artists can navigate institutional spaces without being reduced to a token position. His painting often extends into other media, consistently asking the same question: how do artistic practices survive outside the institution, and what aesthetics and logics emerge from this?

This workshop series is organised in collaboration with Trill vzw as part of SUMMER for MINO, FOR THE CULTURE; a program about the practices, communities and spaces that make culture and build worlds around it, on our own terms.

Reduced rate: €15 for 4 workshops (only available to those eligible for increased reimbursement)
