DESCRIPTION:Summer Program 2026\nMINO is excited to announce the open call for FOR THE CULTURE: an interdisciplinary summer program taking place from 7 August until 4 September 2026 in Antwerp. \nFor the culture comes from Afro-American cultural movements and hip-hop communities. It meant showing up for something bigger than yourself\, building collective identity\, visibility and cultural continuity. \nToday\, for the culture is everywhere. Across cities\, communities\, platforms and borders. Artists\, collectives and diasporic communities are shaping culture on their own terms – through art\, music\, fashion\, language\, rituals\, digital platforms and collective practices. Creating spaces to tell stories\, share knowledge and build community. Not because they are asked to\, but because they feel the urgency to. On their own terms. \nAt MINO\, we believe that this is one of the most urgent cultural conversations of our time. Who gets to create culture\, validate it\, claim it. Who shapes the narratives\, the spaces\, the infrastructure. These aren’t abstract questions\, they are what artists\, collectives\, community builders and communities are questioning and answering everyday. This is the space we work in. \nFOR THE CULTURE brings together artists\, makers and collectives around these questions through a multidisciplinary summer programme – exhibition\, public interventions\, screenings\, listening sessions\, conversations and participatory formats. Not to define what culture is\, but to make space for what is already being built. \nFOR THE CULTURE is an open\, evolving and experimental programme. Just like culture itself\, it will be shaped by the people\, practices and conversations that become part of it. \nWe see this open call as a collaboration and an invitation to think together about the questions at the heart of FOR THE CULTURE. We are interested in the fluidity of culture: how it moves\, changes\, travels and takes on new meanings across communities and contexts. \nWhether your contribution takes the form of an exhibition\, screening\, performance\, gathering\, workshop\, publication\, conversation\, intervention or something that does not fit neatly within existing labels\, we would love to hear from you. \nWe are not looking for finished answers. We are looking for practices\, ideas and perspectives that help us think through and respond to these questions together. \nWHAT TO EXPECT\nSelected participants become part of an experimental and collaborative playground where ideas\, practices and projects can be tested\, shared and developed. \nAt MINO\, we value process as much as outcome. We are not a traditional institution or presentation platform\, but a space for experimentation\, exchange\, trial and error. We welcome work-in-progress\, unfinished ideas and practices that are still evolving. \nFOR THE CULTURE is built on reciprocity\, generosity and collective learning. Participants are invited not only to share their work\, but also to contribute to the conversations\, exchanges and connections that emerge throughout the programme.

DESCRIPTION:Working across collage\, photography\, found imagery\, text and graphic elements\, Rahim Aharar reflects on identity\, memory and the experience of living between Moroccan and Belgian cultures. Through an installation at HABIBIS COFFEE CLUB and interventions on advertising columns throughout Antwerp\, he reflects on memory\, identity and his connection to his Moroccan roots. SUMMARY:Home to body\, Home to Rooh / Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Culture lives in the ways we gather\, move and care for one another. \nHome to Body\, Home to Rooh is an invitation to experience culture as a living practice. Across generations and geographies\, communities have gathered through movement\, music and shared meals to reconnect with themselves\, with one another and with their surroundings. \nAs part of FOR THE CULTURE\, this workshop shifts the focus from observing culture to embodying it. Through Sunrise Flow Kemetic Yoga\, Yin Yoga\, somatic practices\, sound and reflection\, we explore the body as a place where memory\, identity and collective care are carried and shared. \nThe morning concludes with a shared Levantine mezze\, where food becomes another language for conversation\, hospitality and exchange. SUMMARY:Gladys Nganare - Visible Mending / Participatory performance
DESCRIPTION:Led by Gladys Nganare\, this walk-in workshop invites participants to repair and transform textiles through visible mending. Reflecting on care\, sustainability and inherited knowledge\, the workshop recognises repair as both a creative and cultural practice\, showing how stories\, skills and traditions continue to be shared and carried forward across generations. \n\nWorking primarily with Japanese paper\, Gladys Nganare creates minimalist works through layering\, tearing and stitching. Her practice creates space for slowness\, silence and attention\, proposing softness and rest as conditions for reflection and care. \nWithin FOR THE CULTURE\, Nganare presents three paper works alongside a participatory stitching performance. SUMMARY:Cian-Ti Wang - Fake Restaurant
DESCRIPTION:Fake Restaurant is a participatory performance and food project taking the form of a fictional restaurant. Rather than simply attending a meal\, guests become part of the work by sharing a table\, eating together and engaging with the space and with one another. The meal becomes a setting for conversation\, exchange and shared experience. \nCian-Ti Wang is a visual artist based in Antwerp whose practice focuses on food\, migration\, ritual and culture. For this project\, she brings together food she has cooked and shared across Taipei\, Berlin\, Antwerp\, Brussels and Amsterdam. Each dish carries memories of a place\, a person and a moment\, bringing together Taiwanese food\, ingredients and influences encountered along the way. \nThrough the performance\, food becomes a way of carrying memories and crossing geographical\, cultural and social boundaries. The work reflects on what it means to live in a foreign country\, and how food can create a sense of home\, comfort and connection. \nThe Menu\nThe meal includes two appetizers\, a main course and a dessert. The menu is entirely vegetarian\, bringing together Taiwanese food\, ingredients and influences gathered through Cian-Ti’s experiences across different places. \nDinner — 18:30 · €30 \nDrinks are not included in the ticket price. \nLimited places available. DESCRIPTION:Through interconnected performances in public space\, Bumba and Kasparas Brazovskis examine visibility\, belonging and access. Engaging directly with passers-by\, the performances question who gets to occupy public space\, who decides the rules that shape it\, and how power becomes visible through everyday encounters. Within FOR THE CULTURE\, the city itself becomes a site for reflecting on representation\, participation and collective life. \nWorking across performance\, installation\, text and public intervention\, Bumba uses language\, the body and public space as artistic tools to question how meaning is constructed\, shifted and imposed within systems of power\, identity and representation. Taking reality itself as her material\, she repositions familiar symbols\, systems and visual languages\, making visible what often goes unnoticed. Balancing confrontation with poetry\, humour with urgency\, her work invites audiences to question what is usually taken for granted. \nWithin FOR THE CULTURE\, Bumba presents 10L WITTE PRIVILEGE\, a public performance in which she circulates fifty numbered paint cans bearing the words 10L WITTE PRIVILEGE. Dressed as a construction worker\, she frames privilege not as an abstract concept but as a structure that is built\, maintained and passed on. What appears to be a product launch becomes a public intervention where an everyday object exposes systems of power\, inviting audiences to reflect on their own position within them.  \n  \nThis performance is part of SUMMER OF MINO – FOR THE CULTURE\, a monthlong\, citywide programme of exhibitions\, performances and interventions across Antwerp.

His practice responds to experiences of movement and a multicultural upbringing\, creating installations where everyday rituals become acts of connection. \nWithin FOR THE CULTURE\, Brazovskis reimagines his installation Expired Passport as a communal table. Inspired by childhood memories of sharing couscous in Tunisia\, the work invites visitors to gather around a large bowl of šaltibarščiai\, Lithuania’s iconic cold soup. By bringing people together through a shared meal\, the installation shifts the focus from individual migration stories to the simple act of eating together\, proposing the table as a place where culture\, memory and belonging are created collectively. \n  \nThis performance is part of SUMMER OF MINO – FOR THE CULTURE\, a monthlong\, citywide programme of exhibitions\, performances and interventions across Antwerp.

SUMMARY:Workshop series / What Sounds Like Paint
DESCRIPTION:In this series of four workshops\, Joseph explores together with participants how ‘taste’ shifts across the senses: how the love for our favourite songs can spill over onto the canvas. Participants will not only learn painting techniques\, but also encounter perspectives and references that are less often addressed within mainstream art education. \nJoseph Thabang Palframan (b. 1997\, Windhoek) lives and works as a multidisciplinary artist in Belgium. His practice combines painting with socially engaged\, collaborative projects\, in which he explores how marginalised artists can navigate institutional spaces without being reduced to a token position.
